French antique white wash jug & bowl

125.00

Rare antique French white wash Pitcher and bowl made by Vieillard & Cie Bordeaux circa 1829 - 1895

Well over 100 years old. this beautiful, antique French washing set was produced by the faiencerie (pottery) Viellard & Cie. There is a makers stamp on the bottom of both the jug and bowl.

Bordeaux pottery is rare due to the age - the factory closed down in 1895. It is also rare to find the jug and bowl together - they often get split up over time. I love the plain white of this set - very stylish. The serpent head detail on the handle of the pitcher just adds a lovely touch of detail.
his pitcher and large bowl were made for using in the bathroom or bedroom, however since the introduction of modern plumbing they now look beautiful, creating a French county décor feel, suitable for many rooms in the house - stunning with some flowers on the kitchen table, a sunny windowsill or in the bathroom or bedroom.

Both the bowl and jug are in good condition. There is a crack on the top handle of the jug and a small amount of age related staining - see photos.

Jug height 21 cm, width 14 cm, length 19cm or approx 8.5" , 5.5" , 7.5"

Bowl height 10 cm, width 30 cm or approx 4" x 12"
