Large French tian confit bowl, part glazed, ochre glaze

175.00

Large French antique tian or confit bowl.

This is a beautiful antique part glazed French bowl. The glaze is a lovely ochra yellow. Two handles and a lip for pouring.

These bowls are in great demand but increasingly difficult to find. These part glazed pottery bowls were made in the 1800s and early 1900s. The bowls were traditionally used in the South West of France to prepare the confit of duck before storing for preserving in glazed confit pots.

I bought this beautiful bowl on my last buying trip touring the vineyards of Bordeaux, I was so excited when I saw it in the back of a little French antique shop.

It is perfect for display in most rooms in the home.

This bowl is in very good condition for its age, no major damage, some loss to the glaze on the rim of the bowl.

Height 16 cm width 38 cm or approx 6" x 15"
